1、住宿英語全攻略
休息，是為了走更長的路。所以不管我們身在何處，是玩累了，還是逛累了，都需要找一個能歇腳、補充體力的地方。如果你有親戚或朋友在國外，那自是最好；如果沒有的話，最好能在出國前事先訂好飯店。這樣不但可以免去臨時現找空房的麻煩，還可以騰出更多時間來遊覽名勝，何樂而不為呢？
Type of Accommodation / 各種住宿場所
*大型旅館一般而言，hotel的住宿費用（room charge）比較高，從經濟型每晚70美元到五星級 每晚200多美元不等，完全看個人的預算及喜好而定。
*中小型旅館原則上屬於中等價位，但也有一些地方打著Inn的招牌，但裏頭卻裝潢得美輪美奐，不下於一般的hotel，所費當然不菲嘍！
*郊外度假旅館 lodge多半位於風景區，費用也不會太低。
*附早餐的旅店住宿費用內已包含早餐。在英國，B&B是著名的聯盟旅店。
*汽車旅館 motel專供開車旅遊的人投宿，多半位於公路旁邊，設備較差又欠缺管理，住宿費用不會太高。
*青年旅社收費低廉，許多國家都提供這樣的住宿場所。美中不足的是，youth hostel一般而言距離市區較遠，交通可能不是很方便，有些地方會有資格跟年齡的限制。

2、Scene One / 情景一
Check-in登記住宿
Lisa和James踏入旅館準備登記住宿（check-in），沒想到出師不利，遇到了麻煩。原來他們並沒有事先訂房（to book / reserve a room in advance），而碰巧的是，旅館內所有房間都被訂光了（be booked out）……
以下是James跟接待員之間的對話：
James: ……Excuse me.
詹姆士： ……對不起。
Receptionist: Yes. Good evening, sir. What can I do for you?
接待員：嗯。晚上好，先生。我能為您效勞嗎？
James: Good evening. I want...I mean Id like a room for tonight. Do you have any vacancies?
詹姆士：晚上好。我要……我是說，我想要訂一間今晚的房間。你們有空房嗎？
Receptionist: Oh, Im terribly sorry, but we are all booked out.
接待員：噢，很抱歉，全都客滿了。
James: Pardon me?
詹姆士：您的意思是……
Receptionist: I mean that we have rented out all the rooms today.

James: Not even one left?

Lisa和James剛到紐約就遇挫，心情十分不快，兩個人在飯店大廳的沙發上休息，尋思著向他們在紐約的朋友求助。正在此時，一位叫Ruby的中國女孩也來到了接待處。聽了她和接待員之間的對話，Lisa和James終於明白了他們的失誤之處。
以下是Ruby跟接待員之間的對話：
Ruby: Good evening.
魯比：晚上好。
Receptionist: Good evening, maam. May I help you?
接待員：晚上好，女士。需要我為您效勞嗎？
Ruby: Yes. Id like to check-in, please. I made a reservation a week ago under the name of Ruby Hsu, H-S-U, for three nights from tonight. And here is my confirmation slip.
魯比：是的。請幫我登記住宿。一個禮拜前，我用Ruby Hsu, H-S-U的名字預訂了一個房間，時間是從今晚開始連續三個晚上。這是我的預約確認單。
Receptionist: Thank you, Miss Hsu. A second, please... Oh, yes, weve got your reservation. It is a single room with bath. Is it correct?
接待員：謝謝，徐小姐。請稍待片刻……噢，是的，我們有您的預約。是一間帶浴室的單人間。對嗎？
Ruby: Yeah, correct.
魯比：對，沒錯。
Receptionist: Then, please fill out this form, Miss Hsu.

Ruby: Sure. (Fill out the registration card.) Is this O.K.?
魯比：沒問題。（填好住宿登記表。）這樣可以嗎？
Receptionist: Thank you. Your room number is 666 and here is your room key. Just leave your baggage here and Ill get the porter to carry it up right away.

Ruby: Thank you very much.

4、Check out辦理退房手續
當你打算踏上歸途或是繼續下一行程時，接下來就要辦理退房手續（check-out）嘍！退房通常是中午12點，在退房前，最重要的就是整理好你的行李，查看是否有東西遺留在衣櫥？還是被棉被蓋住了？當然，護照、機票也不要忘了。然後拿著鑰匙到出納處辦理退房結賬手續，記得要檢查帳單上的金額是否正確！
Ruby: Check out, please.
魯比：我要退房。
Cashier: Your room number, please?
出納員：請問您的房間號是多少？
Ruby: Oh, the room number is 666 and here is the key.
魯比：噢，666號房，這是房間鑰匙。
Cashier: Thank you. Did you enjoy your stay with us here?
出納員：謝謝。在我們這兒住得還愉快吧？
Ruby: Very much. The room was comfy and the service was great.

5、巧用旅館服務台
*找人幫忙
服務台/前臺（Information Counter/Front Desk）：記得當你有任何需要時，最快也是最便捷的方法，就是直接找服務台/前臺人員了。
Reception 接待處
Registration 登記處,可以幫你處理相關的住宿手續或其他問題。延長、取消或更換住宿房間，在這裏都可以搞定。
Cashier 出納,這裏可以計算住宿的費用、兌換外幣，也可以在這兒租用保險箱(safe/safe deposit box)。
Information 服務台,這裏可以提供許多旅遊資訊，也可以幫你推薦介紹，甚至是預約餐館、劇院的門票，連叫車服務也有。
*飯店服務
住宿期間，你可以親自或直接撥電話到Front Desk要求以下服務:
晨間叫醒電話
你可以說：Excuse me, can I have a wake-up call at seven tomorrow morning?
對不起，可不可以在明天早上七點叫醒我？
保管重要物品
你可以說：Would you please keep the valuables for me?
可不可以幫我保管這些貴重物品？
廣播找人
你可以說：I want to page someone, please.
我想廣播找人。

要求物品

修理損壞的設備
你可以說：The air-conditioning doesnt work.
